Successful arrest of a prolific offender

Prolific Offender Arrested Following Neighbourhood Team Investigation

Officers from the Clapham Common & Abbeville Safer Neighbourhood Team have arrested a prolific offender wanted in connection with a number of offences across the area, including burglary, shoplifting and theft.

The arrest followed an investigation into the theft of a parcel from a residential address on Cavendish Road, SW12. On 15 September, a package containing nappies was delivered to the victim's home and left on the doorstep. When the victim returned home later that evening, the parcel was missing despite receiving confirmation that it had been delivered.

Doorbell camera footage captured the suspect taking the parcel. Following enquiries, PC Rooney, who recently joined the Clapham Common & Abbeville Safer Neighbourhood Team, reviewed the evidence and was able to identify the suspect. Officers then carried out targeted patrols in locations he was known to frequent and successfully located and arrested him on Clapham Common on 21 September.

The suspect was also wanted for burglary and shoplifting offences, with the arrest bringing a number of investigations to a positive outcome.

This was PC Rooney's second arrest of the shift, having earlier arrested another male who was wanted for failing to appear at court and in possession of drugs.

This result highlights the value of local neighbourhood policing, proactive patrols and the information provided by residents.
